As a card maker I have fairly high standards when it comes to cutting both my card blanks and any papers used for toppers etc. There are few things that spoil a card more than raggedy edges, or torn papers due to worn blades. Also I have a slight OCD about edges being straight. When I first purchased my lovely green Cricut paper trimmer made by Provo Craft, it was a bargain. Today I still believe they are, having just looked on ebay they are selling for £12.50, which includes the compact trimmer, scoring blade and cutting blade. Both blades are replaceable, so there is really no need to replace the trimmer itself. However last year, thinking that my card making was becoming more professional, I decided to treat myself to a supposed upgrade.

I purchased in quite quick succession two rather expensive heavy guillotines of varied designs. Both made rapid returns however when I found that one was unable to cut straight edges at 90 degrees from the previous side, leaving it impossible to cut a true square. The second trimmer was so heavy that it was impossible to wield around in the manner I was used to, and the blade was not capable of cutting clean lines. So back to my trusty Cricut I went, I know now that there is actually no point in upgrading from this glorious little A4 trimmer with fold out ruler to measure larger lengths, as quite simply it does the job perfectly. If you are looking for a quality paper trimmer, and are happy to buy replacement blades as you need, love the idea of a scorer attachment and can cope with the lurid green plastic that is Cricut, I would be very surprised if you are disappointed.
