Welcome to the KnowBrainer Forums The DS-4000 is a workhorse but it was discontinued a number of years ago and the accompanying Ver. 4 DSS Player Pro software doesn't play well with Windows 7. Fortunately, Olympus came up with an interesting workaround. Even though you can't utilize the Ver. 4 application, it will install on Windows 7 and after it's installed, you can install DSS Player Pro 5 right over the top as an upgrade and you don't need a new serial number. Note that this is the only way you can install Ver. 5 without spending $100 on a full copy.

The DS-2400 were one of the first Olympus DVRs to use the new DSS Pro (. Self Programming. ds2) format. Should not be a problem as I have installed other Windows' software on the virtual Windows today. I also had a problem trying to install Player Pro 4 on the Mac using the Mac license number. I received the same message that the program would not recognize the license number.
