I've got a Dell Latitude E6410ATG laptop with Bluetooth running Windows7. I'm trying to pair my LG HBS700 headset with it. I was able to get the computer to recognize the headset using Control Panel/Hardware & Sound/Add a Device. Installation of the driver seem normal and dialog box said it installed. Download the latest version of LG HBS730 (Stereo Audio) drivers according to your computer's operating system.

I just bought a LG Tone HBS730 headset and a Medialink V4 Class 2 Bluetooth USB adapter. I was able to succesfully pair the headset with my Galaxy S3 but I wasn't able to pair it with the usb adapter. When I try load the driver from the cd for the usb adapter it's not able to find my headset. It reads something like 'Installation cancelled. Can not find installed bluetooth device.' I also tried again after putting the headset in standby multipoint mode by holding the call button while switching it on.
There isn't any means to plug the headset into the computer or drivers I can install before hand. Remember what you asked? 'pair my LG Tone headset with my usb adapter?' That's not possible as the pairing is done with a PC that hosts said adapter and in Bluetooth we don't pair with an adapter but with the PC and windows with the adapter all setup and installed. It sounds like the PC needs help. So go to your PC support and ask for them to get the adapter installed.
And in parting, I find it easier to use the under 5 buck Bluetooth adapters that just work with Windows XP Sp3 to 7 without a driver CD. Example at (under 2 bucks).
Makes you wonder why folk struggle with drivers. And yes, that's the one I've used too many times. I wrote and now maintain some apps that work over Bluetooth in PalmOS, Windows Mobile, Windows and now Android. At no time has ANY device paired with the USB adapter.
Volti Rudi Society Technological Change Ebook Tags. That is, you pair it then take the adapter to another PC and the pairing follows. So it's incorrect to think you pair with the adapter. Also if this device mandates a driver install from CD, it is not the same in function as the model I noted.
At first I would help clients get USB adapters working but later for the 2 buck device I can't offer support for adapters far and wide and make a buck so I keep one on hand for the support call now and then like yours. If a client wants me to fix their adapter I first check if the drivers are for the OS in question before I proceed and only then will I proceed.
It appears the drivers have failed to install so it's game over. Finally, not one USB adapter has required me to pair during installation. I know this is upsetting but I've only been at this over a decade so let's hope you can figure out what's a miss with your current adapter.
In parting, details would help. For example if you had shared it was the Kingston USB Bluet BT-2D then I would have checked around but the laptop details are missing too. I also know folk are not happy that all this is so technical. Not sure if I can cure that. Thanks for helping out here. As you can see I'm down in the bowels of Bluetooth as I write apps that use it and IT WAS NOT FUNNY about ' the instructions on how to use these devices are always some of the worst, especially regarding what's 'under the hood'.'
I wish we could avoid the preachy sound or bent but thanks for what you added. I think it helped. If I was there it would be a simple matter of checking out the OP's PC for driver issues or if it was one of my clients I pull the under 2 buck adapter out of my pocket and exchange it.
