European Court of Justice has ruled today on the Uber case where the US-based ride-hailing app was looking to be classified as digital company. Instead the EU court decided that it is regulated under transportation laws. Uber has been calling itself a digital technology company that provides a platform for drivers and customers to connect. While the company itself wants to be classified as an IT company delivering digital products, it is already considered a transportation company in many countries.
The highest court in the EU, however, makes Uber's case harder to make, and is definitely a setback for them. Regulations for transportation companies are harsher than the ones for digital enterprises, and that might not only hurt the company's bottom line but remove it from some spaces altogether. Even though the ruling was clearly not what the transportation company was looking for, according to Uber's statement it doesn't affect most of its business within the EU. This, however, was because it was looking to be freed from much of the regulations and the situation is not optimal to begin with. Google surprised many of us earlier this year by announcing that it will be adding an ad blocker element to its Chrome browser. The search giant that has made its billions thanks to advertisements realized that it can't stop people from using ad blockers.
And almost all of them are not based on the latest software version for nokia C6-00 firmware v42.0.004 of C6-00, hence you get older browser, music player etc. Thereby this nokia N97 custom firmware is unique of its kind, based on last firmware v42.0.004 with all bug fixes, full and mini qwerty virtual keyboard, but no.
Obviously Chrome's native ad blocker is not going to work quite like the rest of them. It will block all the advertisements from a single page if it has even one obtrusive ad.
So it basically tries to block ads from sites with obtrusive ads, not ads in general. There are no exceptions for Google's own ads.
Now Google has revealed that the new feature will enter the Chrome pipeline in just a couple of months. Previously it has been unclear in what update the ad blocker will be enabled, but now Google says that it will start the rollout in February. Chrome version 64 will be released in late January and version 65 in early March, so the ad blocker will be deployed somewhere in the middle.
The launch will be gradual, and Google probably wants to make sure it doesn't lose too much ad revenue due to the new feature before adding it worldwide. Google's Chrome browser will begin blocking annoying and nuisance advertisements on webpages from February, 2018 Google previously announced plans to block nuisance advertisements on webpages. It defined such elements as being auto-play videos with music, or ads that prevent a user from using a webpage for a set amount of time. Chrome browsers will start to take actions against such ads from February 15, which of the Chrome browser. Websites that go on to violate te Better Ads Standards (set by Coalition for Better Ads, which counts Google as a member) will see all of their ads blocked by Chrome if they persist for more than 30 days. The idea is to reduce the amount of annoying advertisements that encourage users to install ad blockers that remove all ads altogether. That YouTube has reached licensing deals with Universal and Sony, a vital ingredient for its music service plans.
It had been proviously reported that a YouTube subscription service for music could be launched as early as March, but was under threat from possible failures to sign agreements with major music corporations. Bloomberg is now reporting that YouTube has secured long-term deals with Sony and Universal. The contracts set royalty rates for music video rights holders, but also commit YouTube to more aggressive anti-piracy action on its platform. YouTube's planned music service will feature music that is not available to play for free on the video site. Relations between YouTube and large media companies have been shaky for years, to say the least. Rights holders want YouTube to more aggressively police content on its platform, as many YouTube users upload music to the service without permission.
Disputes with trade associations in several European countries have previously resulted in widespread blocking of music in those countries. Kaspersky Labs has filed a lawsuit in the United States over a recent ban imposed on the use of its software by government agencies. The Russian firm is targeting the Trump administration in a lawsuit filed in a lawsuit was filed in the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
It is seeking to overturn a ban on the use of its antivirus products at civilian and military agencies, signed into law by President Trump. Kaspersky has been refuting claims that it is vulnerable to influence from the Kremlin, and claims the U.S. Government deprived it of its rights to due process with the ban.
At one point, Kaspersky offered to hand over source code for its products to independant entities to ensure that there was nothing to worry about. Officials welcomed the offer but said it was insufficient. Eugene Kaspersky said the company is going to court. What to do when banned without evidence and the right to be heard? Well, we're securing our rights by taking this to the courts. We've done nothing wrong. -- Eugene Kaspersky (@e_kaspersky).
After releasing what is the most revolutionary change in iPhones since perhaps their introduction, Apple has been suffering from shortages that accumulated from pre-release production problems. Lately, however, the queues to buy yourself an iPhone X have been shortening, and some analysts have suggested that this is not due to lower demand but instead Apple has managed to iron out most of the production problems with its suppliers. All seems to be well in the Appleland, and this would only suggest a new record-breaking Holiday quarter? Well, hold on for a bit, other analysts say as reported. Cowen and Company analyst Karl Ackerman has reported that demand for Apple's latest and greatest has actually been lower than initially was expected. According to Ackerman people have gravitated towards previous iPhone models, including iPhone SE that costs barely a third of a brand new iPhone X.
Ackerman says that it's not necessarily the problems with availability that has disincentivized people from buying the $999 flagship. It's not horrible for Apple, though, as they are still expected to ship nearly 80 million iPhones in the first fiscal year of 2018, that includes the Holiday season. That could very well still be a record amount of iPhones shipped, and with a higher price point it would likely also break revenue records.
Current record is 78.3 million iPhones from last year same time. The future is in virtual reality. Or augmented reality.
Or mixed reality. Clearly people are looking for some other reality than the one we live in.
It seems like in the last few years every technology company on the face of the earth has developed some kind of alternative reality device or application. Of course the largest online video service YouTube is no different, not least because its owned by Google, who likes to innovate with technology. Now YouTube VR, the virtual reality app for YouTube, has been made available on Steam.
You can download the app starting today from the. The app supports both 360 degree VR videos as well as VR180, a format meant for easier and cheaper to film 180 degree clips.
There's also support for traditional video which can be viewed with a VR headset. To get the entire benefit of the app you obviously need a virtual reality device. Unfortunately at this point the support for such devices is fairly limited as you'll have to have HTC Vive.
There are still bugs and the device support is obviously something to be improved, and that's probably why it was released via Steam Early Access, but one can hope for quick updates in the future. European streaming music services aren't happy with Apple taking royalties from them, and they've signed a plea for European Commission to pressure Apple,. According to Spotify, Deezer, and others, Apple shouldn't be taking 30 percent royalties when user purchases their Premium streaming service.
The share is the same as for any other subscription purchase on Apple's App Store, but streaming services aren't happy about that. They claim that this gives Apple's own music service an unfair advantage when they lose 30 percent from already razor thin margins. To avoid this trap they've started offering a link to their own website where you can buy the subscription without Apple taking a share. Obviously for a user that doesn't really care about who gets the money as long as they get the service an extra step might be all too much. That is why the streaming companies are now pleading EU to stop Apple from collecting shares on competing music subscriptions.
Nine European news agencies have signed on a plea which details that the U.S. Online giants should be required to pay for using their content as the copyright holders. They are claiming that the social media companies are abusing content creators to further their own businesses. The plea claims, according to that Facebook, among others, has become a de facto news aggregator for many people who read content created by these news agencies. However, they say that Facebook doesn't compensate the news agencies in a fair manner for using their content. Their contention is that the stories written by the news agencies are now part of the core business for Facebook and Google even though they themselves do not participate in creating the content or hold rights for them.
Furthermore the payments are too small or nonexistent. According to them, the profitability of news has been in decline for years because these platforms haven't had to pay for their content that they distribute, meanwhile the profits of said internet companies have been booming. In Spain this debate was already started in 2014 as Google was required by law, a newly enacted one at that, to pay royalties to Spanish news agencies for linking to their content in their Google News web service.
Google instead declined to pay and closed their website in Spain. The media conglomerates Disney and 21st Century Fox have agreed on a deal in which the former will acquire most of the latter for a whopping $66 billion. After the acquisition Fox will retain control of only the news and sports businesses, including Fox News. Disney will get a host of immaterial property, including the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises, which also means that this is the first time all Marvel franchises are controlled by the same company. One of the more important TV franchises to move to Disney is The Simpsons, a Fox show that's been running for nearly 30 years.
In addition to immaterial rights, Disney will gain control of the movie studio 20th Century Fox, Fox-owned cable TV networks that include FX and National Geographic, as well as stakes in British pay TV operator Sky and Asian network Star TV. Disney will also get the 30 percent stake Fox owned of Hulu, which will make Disney the majority owner of the online streaming service with 60 percent ownership. The rest are split with Comcast (30%) and Time Warner (10%). Rupert Murdoch will gain a five percent stake in Disney and the rest of the payment will be in cash. The cash portion is said to be around $52 billion. Murdoch has been trying to shed some of the extra baggage of less profitable entertainment branches and wants to focus more on news and sports. You remember the rumors about in-screen fingerprint readers early this year, right?
The iPhone X was supposed to have either face detection or a in-display fingerprint sensor that is able to read your fingerprint through the screen. Back then many would've put their money on fingerprint sensor rather than a 3D face detector. Now we know that Face ID was indeed Apple's choice, for probably good reasons, but the in-display fingerprint sensor is not dead. In fact, Synaptics, the company behind many a I/O device, has announced a new product that is just that.
Even though we saw some early prototypes of in-display sensors from some Chinese manufacturers already before the new iPhone, there never was a good enough product to be inserted in high-end smartphones. But even earlier Synaptics had developed a sensor by the name of FS9100 that was supposed to work through a 1mm glass. However, it never panned out as the company had hoped, and never really saw the light of the day in smartphones. This meant that some manufacturers had to move the fingerprint sensor to less optimal spots – *ahem* Samsung *ahem*. Now that the new product has been announced, Synaptics is ready to give it another go. The FS9500, marketed under the name Clear ID, can read your fingerprint through the thick glass of the smartphone display. As a reminder that Apple's Face ID seems to be frustratingly slow, Synaptics said that its new reader is twice as fast as 3D face detection.
YouTube TV is Google's answer, not unlike Sling TV or PlayStation Vue, to people's declining satisfaction with cable TV. Unfortunately it is only available in very limited markets. Now, however, Google has expanded it to new markets in the U.S. YouTube TV has tweeted that it is now available in 34 new metro areas. That almost doubles the available markets to a total of 83. The new markets include Green Bay, Tucson, Tulsa, San Diego, San Antonio, New Orleans, Knoxville and Spokane.
The complete list can be found from the FAQ at, just scroll all the way down. Or watch the little video embedded within the tweet below.
YouTube TV is an internet only TV service that offers various cable TV channels for $35 a month. A total of some 50 channels, depending on the market, include Bravo, Disney Channel, ESPN, FX, National Geographic, and others.
You can both watch the channels live or record the shows for later viewing. Yesterday there were rumors that Apple was going to close a deal on Shazam. A deal, worth hundreds of millions, was later confirmed as Apple released a statement saying they've acquired the music detection service. Apple and Shazam have been working together for a while now. After the release of iOS 8, iPhone's search has been integrated with Shazam detection. You can identify a song playing in the background just by pressing a button.
Shazam has a long history in music detection but it became widely recognized after the introduction of their iPhone app nearly 10 years ago. Apple has not disclosed any financial details of the acquisition but according to early rumors from the deal was valued at $300 million. Even though that's a big number, the company was valued at $1 billion during an investment in early 2015, which is a big drop. For Apple the app itself might not be super valuable, and perhaps the app is indeed nowadays valued quite a bit less than it was in 2015, but Apple has a huge appetite for AI expertise. In the mobile space the company is mainly fighting against Google, whose AI and machine learning prowess is arguably far above Apple's. You remember the new Atari gaming device we? The one with a?
If not, well, you should probably go back and read about it. Now, however, we're getting very close to its release. According to the Ataribox – that's what Atari calls it – is going to be available for pre-order later this week.
Ataribox is slated for Q2 2018 release, so from April to June next year, but later this week, Thursday to be precise, you could make sure you'll get yours as soon as it hits the stores. I also could be that the availability will still be very limited, if Nintendo's retro console is any indication. However, Ataribox is much more expensive at $250 to $300, and might not attract as many casual buyers. Atari's new gaming device is a retro-spirited gaming console that was clearly inspired by Nintendo's mini NES, unveiled last year. It looks a lot like the original, and very legendary, Atari 2600.
The device is primarily meant for retro games, and it comes with dozens of original titles from decades ago, but you can create new games for the AMD and Linux powered device. Apple has released a new feature in its App Store. The application store now allows users to pre-order apps built for iOS, macOS, and tvOS. In a nutshell this means that the developers will get an indication of how popular the app seems to be as well as gives them another type of marketing possibility. Pre-orders were first introduces in beta form a year ago. Apple's trial was done with the help of Nintendo whose Super Mario Run was being released. It was the first app on the App Store that you could pre-order before it became officially available, but now any developer can take advantage of the same hype generating marketing plot.
You can also find a new subcategory within App Store's Games category that promotes some of the games currently in pre-order. When buying a product that hasn't been released yet, there's clearly always a possibility that you might not end up liking it. It is possible, though, that you'll get a better deal of the app when you pre-order it, so it's definitely a double edged sword. You can find more about App Store pre-ordering from. And almost all of them are not based on the latest software version for nokia C6-00 firmware v42.0.004 of C6-00, hence you get older browser, music player etc. Thereby this nokia N97 custom firmware is unique of its kind, based on last firmware v42.0.004 with all bug fixes, full and mini qwerty virtual keyboard, but no pollution with fluffy things and stuffing inside, clear and good to go.

Known issues: skipping of 1, 2, 3 and direct installation of could be successful but it may give error and then the installation is messed up.After Nokia Ovi Maps installation, you can open PC Nokia Suite and install maps. Synchronizations of places work well. Open desktop Google Earth Desktop, give closer view on a place, press Ctrl+Shift+C, open and sign in your account and paste Ctrl+V the location. Save the point.
Then on your phone Nokia Maps ->Favorites ->Syncronize and all points will download. How to make own virtual full and mini keyboard with your language? Use NokiaCooker v3.4. There is a plugin called “Nokia QWERTY-Keyboard Editor”. Look in plugin folder or find it separately.
With NokiaCooker open RM-505_22.0.110_prd.core.C00. After in NokiaCooker folder you will find your nokia N97 custom firmware in “Files” folder. Start Nokia QWERTY-Keyboard Editor and open file resource plugins peninputvkbwindowconfiginfo_01.rsc. Now select Other and Other( ) and type all letters which you want to have on the keyboard.
How to Flash? Or revive a dead phone and bring it alive when you kill it and won’t boot. There are many tutorials in the Internet any of them about JAF will be fine.
Here is a good one • Put all files from the archive in Program Files Nokia Phoenix Products RM-505 • Install JAF in Program Files ODEON JAF • Before Flash you can change your product code as 0570817 using JAF. Here is how to do it • How to flash? Put the settings as is on the screenshot, a dialog will popup and select RM-505. • Turn off your phone, put it on the charger and wait for a moment when display light and beeps.
Then quickly connect the phone to the USB cable and press Flash. Be quick or the phone will not be found by JAF. This method will work even if you mess up the nokia n97 custom firmware. Do NOT press the power button. There is another approach with pressing the power button but it not works with dead phones.
No worries if you kill the phone and won’t boot you can flash it again with that method. Tribute to Nokia N97 Nowadays you can still buy brand new Nokia N97 with all features that you can’t find it in any other phone.
In 2014 I bought my 3th Nokia N97 for $130 (cheaper than first one for $900) because I didn’t found alternative. If you know other phone including all these features please show it and get $1000 prize: • 3,5” display but not higher than 4' cause is not comfty except I'm not gonna paddle with it • 32GB internal memory + 64GB external microSD (formatted properly). Overall 100 GB phone!
• free offline GPS + compass. The golden goose is the free offline maps. Online navigation that GoogleMaps provide is only for the cities when the phone is on charger and has coverage and internet.
Online navigation when hiking or cycling is big no-no. Transmitting packages in internet thru GPRS cost 600 mAh, packages in 3G cost 400 mAh, now you can guess how quick your battery will drain. And what about when there is no coverage and internet? On such distant and wild place you really rely on your GPS and it will leave you in the bog? GoogleMaps can cache only small region so you have to know where you going before to take the road or to stick within that area.
Good example how a program rules the user but not vice versa. Nokia Maps has full countryside offline maps, cost free, and is one of the best maps ever, with very precise updating speed cameras saving me a lot of demerit points from my driver licence:) besides I like to browse on my PC with Google Earth and do the trick on the place I see Ctrl+Shift+C and then in paste coordinates Ctrl+V in my account, then in my phone Nokia Maps ->Favorites ->Syncronize and all points are downloaded and I’m ready to spinning away. Nokia N97 is real adventure phone that never left me when I crossed the globe, many continents and oceans, explored jungles and coastal islands, and never felt lost at so many places on earth • battery replacement. In contrast of current phones on the market when battery is over you need a whole toolbox to perform complex service work to open and put a new battery, recommended to do in laboratory conditions, all this is called “phone disassemble” and have nothing to do with the notion “battery replacement”.
A good moment to understand the difference is when you are in a deep jungle, battery is dead, no worries you have a couple of spare batteries in your pocket. Ops where are my tools and screwdriver?
Left at home? Bye bye GPS, hello walk in circle • hardware keyboard. Along with 2 virtual qwerty keyboard, physical keyboard is vital for every business phone. When I edit documents, texting, writing etc. I need to see all text on full screen while typing and thinking about the gist of the passage. Do not want to switch every second between document and virtual keyboard typing.
• hardware D-pad with buttons. Very handy when play games, especially old school classic game emulators like SEGA, Nintendo, GameBoy, Mame etc. On phones without hardware keyboard the gamepad is on the screen, but excuse me I am not the Invisible Man and my hands are not transparent yet, so no matter how big is the screen I want to enjoy on full surface of the game screen.
And no need to talk about how handy is the touch screen control. • Bluetooth keyboard can replace the two items above? Nope, thanks, no need to carry bulky cases in my pocket as second wallet. Furthermore will face Murphy's law every time when I open the bluetooth keyboard to find the battery dead because haven’t been charged long time ago. Even don’t want to talk about the time to wait for pair or connect the keyboard to the phone especially when I need a quick type just for second to check something fast and go.
• great audio quality frequency graph. Check here the frequency chart is so smooth and flat touching perfect frequency range that can be compared with high quality mp3 players • high quality camera optic as Carl Zeiss 5Mpx or more.
5Mpx is fair enough with good optic. No need 15 or 50Mpx cause I’m not going to print the photos on a billboard. Zoom is much more than bunch of megapixels, its matter of optic too despite most people don’t understand this buying 40Mpx phones mistaking Megapixels like zoom. • phone as pocket PC. Must be opened from any PC as regular file system and fully operational to upload all kind of files like mp3 pdf doc images books games etc.
And be readable for the phone’s programs. No need to put it on google drive, drop boxes, juke boxes, sand boxes and all kind of cloud and cosmic drives How to make backup, mirror on your S60v5 Symbian phone? In all subdirectories of C: Private 10282475 E and C: Private 10282475 C for example C: Private 10282475 E 6515b203 C: Private 10282475 C 6515b203 C: Private 10282475 E 60b25617 delete both ID.reg files. Each Java app has 2.reg files. How to understand which they are? Open it one by one and see the name of the Java app inside 6.
In C: Private 100012a5 DBS_102045FE_MIDP2SystemAMSStaticV2 and DBS_102045FE_MIDP2SystemAMSUserV2 are list of installed Java apps. If you know how to edit then OK. But if you don’t then leave it. If you delete it all Java apps will break and you will need to uninstall manually all Java apps and install it again 7. After delete SYS INSTALL sisregistry backup.lst and restart phone.
And Java app is gone How to uninstall manually widget.wgz file? Go in widgets directory Private 1028282Inside are folders of every widget.
How to understand which widget which folder is? The installed widget rename it from.wgz to.zip and look what files are inside. Thus we see which widget which files and folder belong (if it’s not written on the folder).
Delete its folder. If we install same widget and uninstall it this will not fix it because it will install as second name and we will have two duplicated widgets installed as the first one will stay broken. This is because during installation a random ID is generated, so you will have 2 same widgets with 2 different ID like 2 different apps 2. In the folder will find.mbm file.
For example [2000dcc9].mbm. Go in Private 10003a3f import apps NonNative Resource and delete it.
If there isn’t in Private 10282822, then it’s deleted, then see the ID from the list of installed apps. Then in Private 10003a3f import apps NonNative Resource delete [ID].mbm file. Same in Private 10003a3f import apps NonNative Resource delete ID_loc.rsc and ID_reg.rsc. Delete and.MBM file too, ID_loc.rsc and ID_reg.rsc. How to understand which.MBM belongs to the widget?
This is written into ID_loc.rsc 4. After delete SYS INSTALL sisregistry backup.lst and restart phone. And the widget is gone How to uninstall manually.sis file?
From SIS Contents see Package ID of the program. For example 0x10202BE9 2. Unpack the.sis file and from.pkg script see which files are installed 3.
Open in C or E (depends where you installed it) private 10202BE9 in example. Delete program files. It is possible to have another files belonging to other program with same ID. So be careful to don’t delete wrong files.
Delete and all other program files in others directories 5. SYS INSTALL sisregistry 10202BE9 has.reg and.ctl files. If there is only one program with ID 10202BE9 then there will be only one.reg file. But if there are other programs with that ID then will have many.reg files.
For example delete our.reg and corresponding.ctl file. As we open it will see which one is for delete. Be careful to don’t delete wrong.reg and.ctl 6. Important: When install some Symbian files it makes hash (checksum) of installed files and keeps it in C: SYS HASH So we must delete these files manually.
If we don’t delete it in the next installing of the same.sis will get error because it will see that hash exist in C: SYS HASH Thereby all files from the package must be deleted from C: SYS HASH 7. SYS INSTALL sisregistry backup.lst is a list of installed apps. Our program is in the list but we can’t delete it from backup.lst. If you run now uninstall King will crash because in the list exist app which files are deleted. So the only way is to delete backup.lst and to run Nokia Install manager.
Then it will recreate backup.lst again. Before going further down to the link I would like to praise a ton of people that helped into making this firmware a reality.
Although none of these people helped directly their information and knowledge that they shared on various forums and blogs made this firmware become a reality. If you want to publish this custom firmware somewhere else, then kindly ask for permission first, it's a lot of hard work so do respect that. Link your post to the original post here and don't mirror the download links. For more information, updates, support, bug report or research issues please refer to. Hey There, Thanks a lot for the firmware.
I love my N97 n always wanted a better firmware for it. Thanks for all the hard work you put in to realize it. This is my first time flashing and had a few issues before a successful flash: 1. Do I need to put the specific ( 0570817 ) product code? I mean could I not use a more local product code - the one stated in the link you mentioned ( 2. I could not find the path - Program Files Nokia Phoenix Products RM-505, so i created it. 3.When I tick the Use INI option, the pop-up box neither has an entry for an N97 nor for an RM-505.
What do I do about this? Anything else that I am missing or I need to know for a successful Flash, do let me know. Waiting for your reply. Thanks Again. Hi, I know it's been a year since this was posted.
I've installed this cfw and I was mainly pleased by it, what annoyed me a little was the fact that I wasn't able to modify the virtual keyboards, I cannot add phone languages (and it doesn't have the choice for the most common languages), and I cannot flash any other CFW 'cause its taken as a downgrade and the phone dies on me. If you're so kind, could you please, please help me and give me the files for spanish or latin american spanish to overwrite in your CFW?
I have no problem with english being the main phone language, and I've already modified the physical keyboard, 'cause mine is a LTA phone, but it sucks that the virtual ones are in russian, and if I want to sell the phone, most people here prefer spanish in the interface. Thanks in advance!
Can this CFW work with Nokia N97 Rm-507?If so,I have to only replace the original Kernel files as I understood here (I read all here I'm a bit confused).I downloaded it from www.mrcrab.net.But I don't know which files are exactly the original Kernel files to be replaced with the ones I download here Or shall I only change the product code simply for flash? Is it going to be enough?By the way I have ver. 22.2.110 on my Nokia N97.Will you please help me for the steps that I'm going to follow?
Thanks in advance. Hi, Can this CFW work with Nokia N97 Rm-507?If so,I have to only replace the original Kernel files as I understood here (I read all here I'm a bit confused).I downloaded it from www.mrcrab.net.But I don't know which files are exactly the original Kernel files to be replaced with the ones I downloaOr shall I only change the product code simply for flash? Is it going to be enough?By the way I have ver. 22.2.110 on my Nokia N97.Will you please help me for the steps that I'm going to follow? Thanks in advance. No, RM-507 is N97 mini This rom will work on N97 but not mini. Yes you can take the basic kernel files from mini - it's the ecom files and so to put it into this firmware and it could work.
But is not sure. That how this firmware is built - over the original C6 firmware some kernel files are replaced from N97 so the firmware will boot on N97.
Then some setting are done for example enabling hardware compass into the GPS, Radio transmitter, because in C6 they are disabled and did not work so I had to enable it Anyway I had willing to release N97 mini version but I dont have Mini. Many people are asking me to do this but sometimes I am too busy but I can check to see may be I can post and mini firmware as well. May be someone need to help me and to test it. It will be easy for me if I had Mini but I dont so someone have to make some tries and to confirm what is working and what not so I can fix it Can someone eager help me to make Mini version like I made N97? It will be the same as my N97 but for mini. Try to find PtiKeymappings_505XXX.dll and 10009d8f ecom-2-0.spi from your german original firmware, where XXX is some numbers for the language code Inside this 2 files is the hardware mappings for german keyboards qwertz this is the simple way to take the files with hardware mapping from your original german firmware.
You have to have the german firmware, open it with NokiaCooker it will unzip the firmware and search in the internal folders Other approach is to edit the hardware mapping editing the ecom file but is not very easy it is about binary editing Usually PtiKeymappings_505 and ecom-2-0 are walking hand by hand. You need to replace both. If you replace only one then the phone will not boot after flash, but no worries, if you mess the firmware you can flash it again using the method I described above.
I killed many times my N97 and flashed it again with that method as putting it on charger for a moment;-) The other method flashing with pressing power button will not work on dead phones so I never use it:). Here are steps how to put any interface language in the phone (I mean not keyboard language for writing because is already explained above) Let's say you need Spanish interface Use Nokia Firmware Editor Open rofs2 of C6/N97 ORIGINAL firmware ->Reload from Hdd tools ->Language Manager ->Spanish ->Export. Now you have file Spanish_RM-612.Lang Open CFW with Nokia Firmware Editor RM-505_22.0.110_prd.core.C00 Make temporary all files with date year 1990. Use Total Commander Open N97 CFW and then tools ->Language Manager ->Import ->Spanish_RM-612.Lang and now delete all files from year 1990 (use total commander) and now you should left only the language files because they have current date. Now open with NokiaCooker Editor RM-505_22.0.110_prd.core.C00 and copy this language files. Do not add files from folder Resource Plugins because the screen rotation will screw. Do not add files from Private 200159c0 because the home screen will screw.
BE CAREFULL to not overwrite resource Bootdata languages.txt with incorrect list of languages. You just edit manually languages.txt and add/replace your language number inside. Use 'd' to set default language After flash if the screen is not autorotating just reset the settings Phone->Sensor settings->On/Off/on ->Turning control on/off/on.
Just restart settings. It not ask you to choose files. Users are not 'going to end up with a paper weight', only you mate. Don't click APE CNT PPM MCU. Put all files in Program Files Nokia Phoenix Products RM-505then set the check box as it is on the screen and when you pick 'use INI' a dialog will ask you to select the phone model. If the firmware have found then the APE CNT PPM MCU will light green and all settings will set automatically. You just check few check boxes, that's all mate.
If you never flash before there is a link with detailed description, click and read 'Guides/how-to-flash-with-jaf.html'. Yes, it can work with N97 mini, it's a C6 ported firmware. Better use this N97 for ground.
If you use the other version for C6 you might have to enable some features manually like compass and radio transmitter as I did. I have C6 and N97. N97 and N97 mini are more close than C6 All you need is to take kernel files form the original firmware and to replace it. The ecom file folder and Sys Bin PtiKeymappings_XXX.dll and maybe some more.
Just google there are plenty of tutorials how to port firmware form C6, simple explained and easy. Do this using this N97 firmware. Take the N97mini kernel files and replace it. Anyway if you use the other firmware that is explicitly for C6 then you need to enable the compass and radio transmitter in StaticFeatures.dll (decompress it first) ====StaticFeatures.dll mod==== if you unpack the file with Petran GUI 1.1 then drop it in hex editor these hex values are responsable for this 3004 - adjustable backlighting. The ambient light sensor must be disabled. N97 DO NOT HAVE ambient light sensor for automatic screen brightness adjustment whilst N97 mini has. F905 - light sensor.
4306 - miniQWERTY support. 5900 - Support for video calls. 7806 - Support for video sharing. 6706 - When you press the Power button will throw you to the desktop. If disabled, the window will appear with the menu profiles etc.
F403 - Help Support. 6D00 - Support for WLAN. B806 - Support for 3D ringtones.
For phones with a single speaker makes no sense to include it. 0406 - Support for TV Out example: if you want to turn off miniQWERTY to disable the miniQWERTY search 4306 and we see appropiate function - this is a kind of 4206. Then, instead of 4306 we write 4206. Done, the miniQWERTY is disabled ********* another example to enablo smooth backlight To enable her we need to write instead of some existing ones. For example, what would enable fine adjustment of light we need to turn off the light sensor.
Looking for a sequence of F905, responsible for the sensor, and instead write a sequence of 3004, responsible for the smooth adjustment of the backlight so we replaced a function by another. @Limmi you mean the hardware keyboard mapping? This is into this file Sys Bin PtiKeymappings_505XXX.dll This file is related with Private 10009d8f ecom-2-0.spi So you need to edit/replace both together. If you change either it will not work.
If you edit change PtiKeymappings_505XXX.dll but without corresponding ecom-2-0.spi your keyboard will not work at all. If you change ecom-2-0.spi but without PtiKeymappings_505XXX.dll your phone may be wont boot properly, btw don’t worry if it cannot boot you can still flash it over with method described here. Anyway, both files ecom-2-0.spi and PtiKeymappings_505XXX.dll work together. If you want replace them from original French firmware and you will have correct hardware mapping.
Other way is to edit PtiKeymappings_505XXX.dll but don’t forget that all.dll are compressed, you need to decompress it first petran –nocompress PtiKeymappings_505XXX.dll and after modification compress it again petran -compressionmethod bytepair –compress PtiKeymappings_505XXX.dll If you can’t find the tool petran.exe I can post it here. You don’t need to download whole SDKs you can find it downloadable all over the internet. It is just a 98,304 bytes exe Btw the virtual keyboard, part of it is into ecom-2-1.spi. So if you replace ecom-2-0.spi the ecom-2-1.spi could refuse to work and will not show the virtual keyboard, it is possible but not necessary, merely after replace ecom-2-0.spi check the virtual keyboard. Thank you for response, yes some patches have some lines in foreign language because they are collected from variety of sources during the years. Camera and c2z mod is widely explained in Internet. 9 Online Tvmod may be you don’t need to put it because it’s a little bit obsolete, before years there were plenty of broadcasting TV in the internet and this patch makes phone compatible play older codecs in less resolution that are for phones before N97 (in these days there were many broadcasts for older phones) but now I think is useless because you cannot find broadcast for older phones before N97.
When you make a backup, make on both C and E because many apps are installed in C and E, that’s why I have not mentioned drive letter because that depends of you. If you have installed apps in F: then make backup and on F. I never install apps on F so all I need to backup is C and E, you can exclude the NokiaMaps folder “cities” inside is your downloaded maps that’s better to download it again. Keep in mind that making backup and restore is really cool but except only one thing, the Java (and.wgz widgets I think) apps will not be restored, their icon will not appear. So if you have backup Java apps inside the archive then uninstall it manually as is described above, delete C: Private 100012a5 DBS_102045FE_MIDP2SystemAMSStaticV2 and DBS_102045FE_MIDP2SystemAMSUserV2 and etc. And then after restore install the Java apps again. Except this everything else is restoring perfect and all.sis app can be deinstalled without problem with any deinstallator.
I have 3 of N97 and I make 1 backup that I deploy on all 3 phones and after restore I merely install the Java apps. My backup does not include Java apps, so I install only java apps later after restore.
If you have backup archive with Java app inside there is no problem to leave the installed java apps within and install new java apps above after restore. There is not a problem doing this but the old java apps will remain inside your phone and will take a space (especially bad if they take a space from C). As far as I see the CFW works perfect without any issues, if you spot pb I will appreciate a feedback. As far as I looked around the Internet there is no CFW like this, half of them have issues like disabled video calls or compass, and the other half are overloaded and stuffed so childish. I hope you enjoy.
