The casting numbers are D9AE 6015 ed 15 and 2C18. I gather the d9ae means 79 auto engine and the 6015 is the part number for the engine block. From thereon i cant figure out what the numbers mean. 74 thru 94 the 351W blocks are not the same, miid 80's blocks are real thin main web. I recently bought a 351W from a fellow hamber and I am trying to decode the numbers. Problem is.I don't see any obvious casting numbers.

There are some confliting opinions here. Nothing from any non-Winsor or Cleveland engine can swap onto it.

Nearly any of the Windsor heads will work on the 351W, some better than others. If you have a good set of heads with the 351, just rebuild them. Cleveland heads can work, but are not a direct bolt-on. 351C, 351M and 400's are all in the same '335' engine family, and are technically small blocks, but some call them 'mid-blocks' or 'big small-blocks'.

I have a book detailing all this, but I can't think of th ename of it right now. 'Ford Performance Engines' or something like that. I'll try to find it tomorrow.

In your case, 2 of the holes on the 66 mount should line up. That 406 will fit correctly if you use the 1962 engine mounts. There should be enough clearance be tween the oil pan and the frame cross member to shove four finger and your hand through. Benjamin D Wilmes Response(s) I just picked up a 67 galxie convertible and the wire on mine is black with a green stripe. This comes from the sending unit. There is also a yellow wire that is connected this I believe is the power.

Good chance your sending might be bad. Not sure if it helps at all Test the output of the sending unit before you just replace it. On my 68 LTD, the gas gauge did not work because the 'radio noise suppressor choke' went bad. Replaced it and it worked.

The Body code of 76A is for a Country Squire wagon. The double letter color code is for a two-tone car not this wagon would have been all silver blue, but a convertible would just have one letter code as there's no upper body to color on a convertible. Thanks so much Response(s) I took the door lock out and took it to a locksmith, he was able to cut a key for me. Also the ignition can be removed it has a spring load and notch, you just got to get your head up under the dash and pus and turn the whole assy where the wire are then will it come out. I lost my keys to my 63 galaxie. A mobile locksmith came out and cut a key without taking out the switch by inserting a key blank and filing the blank down where the pins touched the blank until it fit.

Super simple, took about 45 minutes and cost $80. He said the door keys could be replaced by removing a spring clip on the side of the door which holds the tumbler in place and bringing the tumbler to a locksmith. I think he said trunk was the same but i had a separate key for the trunk.

Response(s) The front door from a sedan can be used as is, but the rear door's window frame is different than a sedan's. You may be able to cut out both window frames and swap the wagon's frame into the sedan's door.

The 4V version has 10.5 to 1 compression and back when I drove it a lot, it didn't matter if I had 87 or 93 in it. It seemed to ping the same amount all the time on either. Toughest engine I've ever seen. I finally stopped (reduced) it with one of the old Edelbrock water injection systems. I had a small light added to the wire so I could see when the pump came on. It would start going up a steep hill and just start pinging a little and when the pump came on it quit.

The water injection systems seem to be a lot more expensive now, but it works. I think there may have been a 2V premium option, but I don't know first hand on those. My 63 with a 390 had white smoke coming out the exhaust it had a cracked #8 cylinder due to no wrist pin keeper keeping the pin in. Check your compresson on all cylinders.

Grab the booster, master cyl and prop valve just to make sure they are correct. From then on, when you need a part you just tell them it is for a 72 LTD with disc brakes. Response(s) make sure the leg as you call it is posistioned under the lobe. You might feel some resistance but its because youre pushing down on the leg when you put it in. Check the feul pump by pushing down on the leg with the pump stabilized.

You should feel and hear a sucking noise when you do this. If there is no resistance the pump is bad. Good luck!!!! You might verify that the intet and outlet are not swapped.

The number one two and three cylinders will not hit. I have replaced the plugs, points, distributor cap, rotor, adjusted the valves, replaced the plugs wires. The car starts easy on the other three cylinders, doesn't put any smoke or steam out the tailpipe. The cylinder compression runs 95 psi in the three cylinders that doesn't hit. It looks like the water in the radiator is foaming.

No water is getting in the engine oil. What could be my problem?

Response(s) i changed my ignition switch out a few months ago on my 1961 ford fairlane. To remove the complete switch, reach up under the dash and press the switch in toward the back side of the dash, the switch is spring loaded. As you hold pressure on the switch with one hand take your other hand and turn the chrome ignition switch bezel one quarter turn couter clock wise i think, it may be clock wise.the switch should seperate from the bezel.

To remove the key cylinder from the ignition switch, insert the ignition key into the switch and turn the key to accessories. Insert a paper clip into the small round hole right below the key and press in on the paper clip while pulling out on the key. The key cylinder should seperate from the rest of the ignition switch.

The tie rod ends are different, but you should be able to determine for sure which one you need after the spindles are installed. You will need 15' rims to clear the calipers. Let me know if you have any questions, but I would start at autokrafters.com, dearbornclassics.com, newenglandmustang (ebay store) for the correct door panels for front and rear, galaxieperformance (ebay store) for the hard to find trim pieces (he has the NOS - new old stock, originals, which are extremely expensive, but hey, they are originals!) And macsautoparts.com and www.concoursparts.com. You should find a bunch of parts for the 66 Galaxie 500. I have some parts I'm not using myself as well.

I just recently got to look at both years side by side and I don't see how they could fit. The bumper is different, the housings are different and the quarter panel ends on a slope on the 67 and is straight vertical on the 68.

I must have seen a 67 with a 68 front end or Ford made some mid year changes or something. Sorry about bad info before. Noway not without alot of cutting no wrong size and shap I have?
